TATTOO AFTERCARE SUGGESTIONS

LEAVE BANDAGE ON AT LEAST FOUR HOURS, OVERNIGHT IS PREFERRED

With clean hands remove bandage and scrub your tattoo thoroughly with HOT water and unscented soap.  Make sure to remove all dried blood, ink, ointment, etc.

Apply a light coat of Aquaphor Ointment or Emu Tattoo Care about ten minutes after you’ve cleaned your tattoo.

            DO NOT RE-BANDAGE

Do not clean your tattoo in this manner again – from this point on you will wash your tattoo gently with warm water and unscented soap. It is important to NOT remove any flakes or scabs during the cleansing process.

Gently wash your tattoo in this manner and apply a light coat of ointment two or three times a day until all signs of flakes and scabs have vanished.

Expect your tattoo to be flaky and/or scabby during the initial healing period for about 7-14 days.

DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT YOUR TATTOO

Once your tattoo has ceased being flaky, discontinue the application of ointment and switch to a fragrance free moisturizing lotion (such as Eucerin, Aquaphor Lotion or Lubriderm).

Keep in mind your skin is still healing even after all signs of scabbing have dissipated. Your tattoo may appear shiny or ashy for another week or two. Applying moisturizing lotion during this phase will help in returning your skin to normal.

STAY OUT OF THE WATER AND STAY OUT OF THE SUN

Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, etc during the entire healing process of 2 - 4 weeks.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight until your tattoo is fully healed in 2 - 4 weeks. Once healed, you should always protect your tattoo from any UV exposure with a broad spectrum sun screen.

Do not touch your new tattoo unless you’ve just washed your hands
